Over the River
The Story
My part of the Midwest used to be a mosaic of timber and open field. Driving through the stillness of a stand of timber could be a welcome relieve from the open prairie if it was windy. The seasoned old farmer in this painting is going to help a neighbor shuck out the last of a late planted field of corn that didn’t make it to the crib before the first snowfall..
